PORTOBELLO FILM FESTIVAL BEST MUSIC FILM 2022
WINNER 'THE EBONY ROCKERS MURAL' MONTAJ MEDIA VILLAGE

We are very pleased tonight to learn that our 14 minute short Reggae film about Southampton 70s Band EBONY ROCKERS - and the new giant tribute mural to them in the city - has won the 'Best Music Film' award from the PORTOBELLO FILM FESTIVAL in West London. We are proud ourselves and for the band, given they are lifelong friends who deserve the acknowledgement.

Production started right when we were completing the busiest period of our ON RESISTANCE STREET feature length documentary and all the team worked very hard to get it done in an extremely short timescale. My thanks and congratulations to all at Montaj, especially Robert Clother who has been beside me on every step of a quite exhausting journey over the past 15 months, Don John, Simon Keene Simon Woodward Taj Khan and Mark Vennis. The film tells the story of the band as members of the 'Rock Against Racism' generation, their career and the cultural legacy it represents via the mural in their home city.

Thanks to Jonathan Barnett, Mykaell Riley and all at the Festival.
And of course to all members of EBONY ROCKERS.....
MONTAJ MEDIA VILLAGE WINS ANOTHER FILM FESTIVAL AWARD
THE EBONY ROCKERS MURAL - A SHORT FILM

We are very proud and pleased to win 'Best Multi-Cultural Film', at the 'Society For Photographic Education Media Festival' in Denver, Colorado USA for our 2022 film about Southampton Reggae Legends 'Ebony Rockers'. We have not seen the line up for this years festival yet but last year's was a fine array of films under 30 mins, platforming cultural minorities and their stories via interesting and informative visual angles at a Festival now in its 27th year of existence.

Congratulations to Don John Kevin Harper Robert Clother Simon Keene Simon Woodward Josh Reynolds Mark Vennis and Taj Khan. Congratulations again to Ebony Rockers on getting recognition around the world now!

THE SPE MEDIA FESTIVAL DENVER
The SPE (Society for Photographic Education) Media Festival (originally the SPE Women's Film Festival) has featured innovative and provocative short documentaries, animation and fiction by, for and about women and minorities since 1995. The 2022 Media Fest will be held in Denver, CO in person at THE DENVER SHERATON March 17-18, 2023. The theme of the conference is Homecoming. The world has radically transformed over the last four years, and many of us have had to fundamentally reformulate how we live, work, and learn. The trials of the COVID era have been an enormous challenge, but we have adapted and grown to rise to the moment, developing myriad new approaches to artmaking, teaching, and scholarship. We invite artists to submit films and videos that embrace the diversity of the moving-image medium through immersive visual storytelling, interdisciplinary research, intersectional thinking, and experimental practice.
